Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm Losers Party Is a Winner!
Let's face it, with 26 categories doled out at last night's 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, the losers outnumbered the winners by more than four to one.
That's a lot of loss. Nobody knows
the agony of Emmy defeat better than Jon Hamm and Amy Poehler — they
have collectively been passed over 20 times in seven different
categories.
But instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they decided to
celebrate their failure. Hence their private, no-trophies-allowed Losers
Lounge Emmys afterparty.

Also-rans and never-weres like Bill Hader, January
Jones, Jane Lynch, Jimmy Kimmel, Zachary Quinto, Peter Dinklage, Damian
Lewis, Zooey Deschanel, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Rashida Jones, Aubrey
Plaza, and David Spade were all spotted letting loose at the party,
which lasted until 1:30 a.m. at the Soho House.
To
make it fair — seriously, getting snubbed by the Emmys is no fun — any
nominee who failed to secure an award was admitted to the party for
free, while stars (like Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who did nab a statue were
required to make a $1,000 donation to Worldwide Orphans Foundation.
Their reward for their charitable act was an engraved bottle of Johnnie
Walker Blue Label to commemorate their win and contribution.
"I wanted a place where everyone can
celebrate, because win or lose it's about moving forward and having fun
while doing it," Poehler said of her fete, which was attended by her
nearest and dearest, including her boyfriend Nick Kroll, and close pal
and Emmy winner Tina Fey.
According to Hamm, the idea for the party wasn't entirely original:
Kristen Wiig threw a similar party in her hotel room after the Emmys
last year. "We called it the Losers Lounge because nobody that was there
won and it kind of stuck," the "Mad Men" actor told E!.
"We were like, 'That was a really fun party. We should do that again,
but we should do it bigger and better and invite our friends who aren't
going to win either and we'll have a good time with it.'
"We figured that the winners get
celebrated enough so we thought it was about time that the losers get
celebrated. And Poehler and I are friends from a long time ago and every
year when we would lose the Emmy we would kind of wink at each other
and call each other loser for the rest of the night."

According to an omg! source, the
event raised $20,000 for Worldwide Orphans Foundation, which seeks to
transform the lives of orphaned children and empower them to be
productive members of their communities.
Based on their charitable efforts alone, this party definitely seems like it was filled with winners.
